XISU Holds Teaching Activity in 2022 “Chinese Bridge” Mandarin Excellence Programme (MEP)

The opening ceremony of Mandarin Excellence Programme (MEP) Virtual Intensive Study in China was held On July 4th 2022.

The opening ceremony of the summer camp was chaired by Director-General of CLEC Ma Jianfei. Among the honorable speakers were Vice-Minister of Education in China Tian Xuejun, vice-minister of Education in China; Minister of State at the Department for Education in the UK Robin Walker; Director of British Council China and Minister for Culture and Education of British Embassy Matt Burney; and Director and Dean of UCL Institute of Education Li Wei. About 2,000 teachers and students from 64 MEP schools and 16 Chinese host institutions attended the event. Members from School of Chinese Studies, XISU attended the ceremony online.

This is the third year that XISU has participated in the project. Focusing on the four themes of "Panda and Zoo", "Sports and Modern Life", "Campus Life" and "History and Cultural Heritage", XISU has provided more than 100 secondary school students from four secondary schools in the UK with a variety of forms and rich Chinese teaching and cultural experiences such as live lectures, video tours, folklore experiences, music evenings, and family visits.

On July 15th, Mandarin Excellence Programme (MEP) Virtual Intensive Study in China came to an end.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, School of Chinese Studies, XISU has actively launched Chinese teaching and cultural experience courses via live stream and provided precious learning opportunity for Chinese learners overseas, which earns good reputation worldwide.
