On August 23, 2021, Xi’an International Studies University (XISU) successfully recruited its first international student for a PhD program after the application of student, material review and interview of supervisors.

This PhD candidate, HIND ALKOLI, from the Republic of Yemen, pursued her master degree in the Southwest Jiaotong University, majoring in Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. As a then Chinese government scholarship winner, Ms. ALKOLI had excellent academic performances at her undergraduate program. She applied XISU’s doctoral program of English Language and Literature this May and was admitted after a series of reviews. In her first year at XISU, she was awarded the Xi'an "Belt and Road" Scholarship for International Students.
